Erotism and pornography

A fundamental characteristic of digital praxis is the reconfiguration of the structure of space. This reconfiguration is analogous to that which is realized by the genre of pornography. Pornography sites were, beginning in the early 1990s, among the first to invest in digital space, consequently becoming the first to propose economic models adapted to a digital reality and the first to address technical issues – the compression of high-quality videos, for example. As such, studying the structural and formal analogy between porn as a genre and the digital as a space will necessarily allow us to better understand the implications (namely political) of the digital sphere.
